Philosophy
Dickerson Engineering believes that it is imperative to maintain a state-of-the-art computer system. Our in-house programmers create and maintain custom programs to meet our specific needs. This enables us to produce quality documents promptly and accurately.
CAD Software
DEI uses AutoCAD for the preparation of drawings and sketches. Some examples of our work are available on the samples page.
Programming
Our CAD drafting personnel use a custom electrical menu developed by our programming staff. This menu is used in conjunction with our automated plotting system to produce our design documents quickly and efficiently.
Computer System
The DEI computer system consists of over 30 computers running Windows and FreeBSD. All of the computers are connected together via our high speed network providing the data and information sharing so critical in today's design environment. In addition each station is connected to an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) which provides ride-through during brief power outages and protects our equipment from power surges, preventing the loss of valuable data.
Output
After our drawings are finished they can be output to either paper or vellum to our LED plotter or, if color is required, to our inkjet plotter. In addition DEI maintains several laser printers capable of generating sketches, reduced size and check plots at sizes up to 11"x17". Finally, DEI can generate electronic versions of our files in HPGL/2 format plot files, Adobe Acrobat PDF format, or Autodesk DWF format to facilitate sending them via email.
